Kokura Castle
The current main keep is a reconstruction from the Shōwa Era. It is very beautiful, with white walls and gray roofs. It features a unique design where the fifth floor is larger than the fourth floor, a style known as “Kara-tukuri” (Chinese style) from the Edo period. Visitors can ascend to the top floor, where they can view exhibits about the castle and its history on each floor. The top floor offers a panoramic view of Kokura town. Additionally, you can learn about Musashi Miyamoto, a legendary samurai hero.

Musashi & Kojiro
The duel between the two samurai warriors on Ganryū Island in the Kanmon Strait is a story often depicted in novels, movies, TV dramas, and manga. It is one of the most popular historical tales among the Japanese people. This popularity is largely attributed to the novel “Miyamoto Musashi,” written by Eiji Yoshikawa. Although the story includes many fictional elements, most Japanese people believe in its historical significance. The statue of the two warriors stands in the open space in front of Kokura Castle.
