Kujuku Islands Sea Area
Kujuku literally means the number 99, but it also means “an uncountable number of.” In fact, the area has 208 islands as well as rias coasts (sawtooth-shaped coastlines) on the land side. These features make the area an exquisitely wonderful sea scenery. It is designated as Saikai National Park. You can enjoy this view from several observatory points. Tenkaiho is the best observatory point. Alternatively, you can take a cruise boat that sails from Sasebo.

Kujuku Islands Pearl Sea Resort
This is a complex to fully enjoy Sasebo and Kujuku Islands. It has a port for cruising boats, marine sports facilities, an aquarium, and restaurants.

Kuro Island
This is one of the four inhabited islands in the Kujuku Islands area. Most of the people on this island are Christians. It used to be a hiding place for Christians during the Edo period. During those days, the people secretly preserved their religion and culture. Kuroshima Cathedral is their iconic structure. It was designated as one of the World Heritage Sites of “Hidden Christian Sites in Nagasaki and Amakusa Regions.”
