Miyazki
Miyazaki is a warm prefecture with a lot of beautiful scenery. The good weather and beautiful scenery once made it a popular honeymoon destination. Now it is a popular camping spot for professional baseball teams. Miyazaki’s food attracts a lot of visitors.
Nichinan Seashore
Along the coastline, there is a main road stretching south from Miyazaki City to Toi Cape. It is a popular route for driving enthusiasts. With the southern atmosphere of unique flowers and the beautiful sea, it is dotted with many sightseeing spots such as scenic viewpoints and Shinto shrines. It is one of the most pleasing driving routes in Kyushu.
Palm Trees Street
Palm trees grow mostly in southern Kyushu. They were transplanted. Especially in Miyazaki, roads lined with palm trees on both sides are everywhere. When you see these roads, you will surely feel like you are in a warm southern area of Japan.

Oni-no-sentakuita, Demon’s Washing Board
Washing boards were used before electric washing machines. The board has a serrated surface with lines of narrow ditches from side to side, on which clothes are rubbed to clean. When you drive a car along the Nichinan road, you can see some serrated rock constructions in the seashore, which look like a washing board. It is much bigger than a real one, so the name is called with some exaggerating expression “Oni,” Japanese imaginary ogre-like monster.

Udo Shrine
It is located on the rock cliff in the Nichinan Seashore. The main pavilion is in a cave. To get here, you should go down the slope from the parking lot, and you can see a great view of the Pacific Ocean. Under the cave of the main pavilion, tens of meters away in the sea, there is a big rock with a shallow square hole on the flat top. This is called “Kameishi,” meaning “turtle stone.” Visitors can throw small clay balls at the hole for the luck trial. More about Shinto Shrine , Click here

The Luck Trial in Udo Shrine: From the cliff near the main pavilion, one can throw five tiny balls at the hole of kameishi. Men should throw them with their left hand, while women with their right hand. It is said that if you hit at least one of them inside the hole, you can make your wish come true.

Moai Statues in Sunmesse Nichinan
Sunmesse Nichinan is a ocean-view park on Nichinan road in Miyazaki. It reproduced the seven Moai Statues (Ahu Akivi). Easter Island gave it the permission to create the replicas of that famous statues in return for the service of the Japanese Team to restore the statues that had fallen to the ground.
