Fried-Aji Fish (Horse Mackerel)
Matsuura City boasts the largest horse mackerel catch in Japan. Many shops there serve deep-fried mackerel so fresh it could be eaten raw. The fish is soft and juicy with no fishy smell, and the coating is crispy. The area is known as the “Sacred Place of Aji-Fry.”
