Nakatsu Karaage (Deep-Fried Chicken)
Nakatsu is known as “the Sacred Place of Karaage.” Dozens of karaage shops operate throughout Nakatsu City. Before deep-frying, the chicken is marinated in a special sauce based on soy sauce or salt, along with ingredients such as garlic and ginger.
There are several theories about why karaage became popular in Nakatsu: (1) the area once had many poultry farms, (2) returning soldiers from Manchuria brought back the recipe, and (3) a local deli first served it and gained a strong reputation.

Suppon, Soft-shelled Turtle
Ajimu Town, located in Usa City, is known for farming soft-shelled turtles. Several local restaurants serve suppon nabe (soft-shelled turtle hot pot). Many food enthusiasts consider it the ultimate nabe dish due to its rich flavor and tender texture.
