These are the ruins of a hill castle in Taketa City. It is said to have been first established about 800 years ago, and took its present form around 500 years ago, though the main tower no longer remains. Today, it is a pleasant place for a stroll, featuring beautiful stone walls and panoramic views. In spring, the site’s cherry blossoms are particularly attractive. It is well known as the inspiration for “Kōjō no Tsuki” (“The Moon over the Ruined Castle”), a famous composition by Taki Rentaro, who was born nearby.
