Sasebo Hamburger
Sasebo has a US Navy base, from which a lot of American culture, such as clothing, music, and food, has been introduced. The Sasebo hamburger is one of them. In the 1950s, the people of Sasebo learned the recipe from the Navy base. Since then, Sasebo has been called “the place of the introduction of the hamburger.” It is called “Sasebo Baga” in Japanese. There are more than 25 shops selling this soul food in Sasebo City.

Sasebo Lemon Steak
This dish, known as Sasebo Steak or Teppan-yaki steak, was adapted from American-style steak to suit Japanese tastes in Sasebo. It features thinly sliced beef grilled on an iron plate (teppan) and seasoned with soy sauce and a hint of lemon juice for a savory, tangy flavor. This style reflects the local fusion of American influence and Japanese culinary traditions.
